Shelton, WA 98584 RE: SR 3, Two Miles South of Allyn to Vicinity Homestead Drive - Paving MP 18.00 to MP 22.00 Substantial Shoreline Development Permit Exemption Dear Ladies and Gentlemen: Enclosed please find a Joint Aquatics Resources Permit Application (JARPA) for an exemption from a Shoreline Substantial Development Permit for the above referenced project proposed by the Washington State Department of Transportation(WSDOT). This project is located on State Route 3, in Mason County. Also enclosed you will find a Mason County Shoreline Permit Application, a vicinity map and a check in the amount of $450.00 for processing. The proposed project is within 200' of Sherwood Creek,North Bay and Case Inlet. Construction activities include: • Pavement repair and overlay of the existing pavement. • Permanent signing. • Shoulder finishing. • Replacing a failed cross culvert. • Adjusting drainage inlets: • Striping and pavement markings. • Pavement grinding. • Guardrail work. Based upon our knowledge of the project and the language in the Mason County Shoreline Management Master Program, we believe this project is exempt from the Shoreline Substantial Development Permit requirement. We interpret this work to be exempt under WAC 173-27-040(2)(b) as normal maintenance or repair of existing structures or developments, including damage by accident, fire or elements. Bid advertisement for this project is scheduled for February 2008.
