Dear Ms. Millercrowley:
I wish to inform you that a "fixed" lake dock is being constructed
on Haven Lake in Mason Co. off of Lot #54. The owner is Mr. George
Takahashi with home address of 1309 No. Bridgeview Dr. , Tacoma, WA 98406.
I did not see a building permit for said fixture as required by Mason
Co. building code.
I own Lot #56 and W2 57 and paid $95 last year for a dock permit and
feel that ALL lake owners should have the benefit of a dock permit prior
to construction.
I hope you see fit to check into this matter. Also, can you send me the
current Mason Co. codes for septic tank, septic drainfield and well
installations,

Dear Ms. Bertelsen:
I conducted a site inspection of your property at Haven Lake to
determine if your dock design is consistent with the Mason County Piers and
Docks ordinance. Although the 5-foot by 20-foot dock would not required a
Building Permit it appears that the value of the dock retaining wall and
future decking would be over $1,000 and thus a building permit is necessary.
The work that I observed is inconsistent with our criteria. Mason County
prohibits the construction of decking over water. A "T" or "L" shaped dock
with float is allowed, but the float area is at the deepest end of the
dock. Therefore, the decking that is constructed over the water must be
removed. It appears that you may have plans to build additional decking in
the future. Please submit plans so that we can review the entire project
and determine it's total value.
I investigated your neighbors Building Permit. Apparently he was
allowed to construct his dock and decking with its' design as reconstruction
of an existing facility. His design would not be allowed as a new
facility.
