Dear Ms. Graber,
This letter is in response to your Initial Review Questionnaire(IRQ)dated October 1,
2002. You are proposing to construct a 3000 sq. ft. addition to an existing 2400 sq. ft.
facility for a community disaster center on parcel number 12108-21-90043. According to
the Mason County Comprehensive Plan, your facility is located within the Grapeview
hamlet and is zoned Rural Residential 5.
According to Mason County Development Regulations, fire stations and their accessory
structures are essential public facilities and are permitted land uses in the Rural
Residential 5 zone. Expansion of existing fire stations greater than 15 percent will
require public review through a Special Use Permit;this process is described in
Development Regulations Sec. 1.05.040. You are encouraged to submit your proposal to
Mason County for this permit review.
You have already scheduled a Pre-Submission Conference for October 23,2002 at 1:30
pm. At this meeting, you would meet staff from the Building,Planning, Health Services,
and Public Works Departments, in order to find out about appropriate standards and
information to submit for a complete building application for the proposed land uses
