The system was designed to accommodate the ectu+e flow gamed from the Fire Station and its addition. The daily flow was calculated at 450 gallons per day. There was an existing septic tank and drainfield that I had designmed to serve proposed showers for the shop. Since that time the tare District has disconnected all plumbing from the existing septic tank,has covered over the top with stepping-stones, and no longea'desires to use this system. The district has installed a 60 gallon pump basin to convey the sewage to the newly installed septic tank(see attached drawing). On July 31,2006,I met with the district and in�the area of the existing septic tank. I feel the septic tank has been abandoned in such a way as not to pose a safety or health threat. The existing septic tank and dminfield is no longer in use and should not be a hindrance to the proposed harried footings for the breezeway. At this time I would like to propose the coaneption of the future showers that will be installed in an addition to the existing shop. The estimated flow from these showers will be mina*(50 showers per year). These showers could garde up to 500 gallons per year, which breaks down to 40 gallons per month el 1.3 gallons per day. In order to safeguard the system from being hydraulically overloadedI I pwpose that some type of miter or event counter is installed on the pump basin and the daily flow monitored. In summary,the acisting septic tank#nd drainfield has been abandoned and is no longer in use:,showers are being proposed to be commc*to the existing septic system,and a measuring devise will be installed on the pump basin to monitor the daily flow.
