November 24, 1998.
1994 Uniform Building Code Items
Item 11: Our office has indicated the areas for special
inspection required, the owner shall provide the
name of the special inspector they Wish to use.
Item 12: The metal siding is not a structural item, see the
architectural specifications.
Item 13: See the revised structural drawings.
Item 14: See the revised structural drawings.
Item 15: See the revised structural drawings.
Item 16: See the revised structural drawings.
Engineering Items
Item 1: See calculation sheet 12 .
Item 2: The equipment platform is not required for this
store, void calculation sheets E8, E8A, E9, and
E10.
Item 3: See Item #2.
-Item 4: See the attached new calculation sheets E12 , E13 ,
E13A, and E13B.
Item 5: Detail 17/S4 is not used.
Item 6: We have reviewed the details and from past
performance the connections are sufficient.
Item 7: See the attached new calculation sheet 15.

Following are responses to your plan review letter dated November 24, 1998.
Plumbing
The plumbing systems are deaigned to the 1994 Uniform Plumbing Code.
Item 1: The Mechanical and Plumbing application has been cornpisied and enclosed with,this
resubmittai.
Item 2: Reference sheet•number has been changed to M-4..'On this Floral Department Piping
Detail, note that the water heater PRV is piped through an air gap fitting,then to the
sewer system.
Item 3: Fixture P-38 is not used.
Item 4:All drains have been labeled..
Item 5:Waste and water piping on sheets M-2 and M-4.has been completed.
.,Item 6: Gas piping hats been completed and gas meter location shown.•
Itern,7: P trap at disposal Is now Indicated.The drain lines from the two remaining compartments
are Indicated by note to be manifolded and piped indirect to the floor sink.
Item 8: The water softener is an optional item to be used when the water supply is considered
hard.On this project,the Belfair Water Dist. does not consider the water supply hard,
-Item 9: Note that the detail on sheet M-5 shows the PRV's piped to the drain pans and the drain
pans piped to outside,
Mechanical.
Item 1: Please refer•ta the enclosed catalog cut sheets for the Onan 45,EM generator set for
size, horsepower, combustion air, heat rejection, etc.See sheet M-2 for gas pipe size.
See sheet M-3 for room.ventilation. (Vote also that the room is open to the'stockroom
and freely communicates with the air volume in the stockroom.
Item 2:The air conditioning schedule on sheet M-1 is now Complete.'

Item 3: See sheet A-2.3, Roof Plan for roof hatch location and detail 1 for roof hatch detail.
Item 4: Sheet M-4 is now complete with gas pipe string and equipment btu requirements.'-See
enclosed catalog cuts for details of hood and filters, which are provi.ded•by Safeway and
installed by the mechanical contractor.
Item 5:The 2250 CFM make-up air unit essentially makes up air for the Wok hood (EF-3),
allowing fora slight negative pressure. The remainder of the make-up air ford a Deli and
Bakery'are to be�u•pplied from the main sales AC unit,which can provide up t4 8000
CFM of outdoor air.
Item 8:We will instruct contractor.that compliance is'to be per the 1994 UMC, not NFPA 96.1
