HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011/08/22 - Briefing BOARD OF MASON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' BRIEFING MINUTES Week of August 22, 2011 Tuesday, August 23, 2011 4:30 p.m. Prosecuting Attorney Commissioners Ring Erickson and Sheldon met with Mike Dorcy, Prosecuting Attorney and Tim Whitehead, Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney to discuss the process to appoint a person to the Commissioner District No. 3 position. The position is vacant due to the passing of Jerry Lingle. The Commissioners have 60 days from August 19, which is October 18, 2011,to appoint a person to fill the position. If the Commissioners cannot reach an agreement on the appointment,the matter then goes to the governor to make the appointment within 30 days. Any potential appointee must live in the current Commissioner District No. 3 and that person shall serve until a person is elected in the November 2012 election. To run for the office in 2012, the candidate will have to live in the new District No. 3 to complete the remainder of the term.
