HomeMy WebLinkAboutSoil Waste Disposal Site Potlatch Gravel - PLN General - 5/13/2002 Soil Waste Disposal Site Potlatch Gravel Potlatch Gravel P.O. Box 474 Hoodsport, WA 98548 360-877-5768 May 13, 2002 Mr. Pat McCullough, P.E. ESA 210 NE Cherokee Beach Belfair, WA 98528 FAX: 360-277-3187 Proposal Potlatch Gravel will accept waste dirt, no woody debris, at its permitted site one mile west of Hoodsport. This permitted site is capable of accepting up to 640, 000 cu. yds. of fill (Mason County grading permit GRD 99-0012) . The owners have accepted and graded per this permit over 20, 000 cu. yards of waste material from the Lilliwaup slide, DOT waste dirt from Purdy Canyon and ditch spoils from the Hoodsport water system. Waste dirt must be clean and graded to specifications of the Mason County permit . Waste dirt is accepted for a charge of $1 . 00 per cu. yard. Shaping by bulldozer can be done by the client or we can shape the material for an additional cost. The distance from intersection of Hwy 106 and Beach Drive to the permitted waste site one mile west of Hoodsport on Hwy 119 is 14 . 2 miles . The route is all on State highways and only the last mile is uphill . Truck and pup trailers are easily accommodated. Round trip would be less than 45 minutes . The owners also operate a gravel pit in Potlatch on Hwy 101 . (GRD 2001-00011) . Pit run gravel is available in large quantities for $1.50 per cu. yard. Loading by excavator is also available . The pit run meets DOT highway construction specifications . Simpson Timber Company purchased .9, 500 cu. yds . for road building in the Spring of 2002 . The Potlatch pit is located just off Highway 101 at Mile Post 334, 10 . 5 miles from Beach Drive and Highway 106 . The route is level, accessible by State highway and only the last one-quarter mile is uphill . A round-trip could be accomplished in under 30 minutes . Trucks with pup trailers are easily accommodated. Pat, depending on your project timing, it would be possible to bring a truckload of waste dirt to Hoodsport and return fully loaded with clean gravel from the Potlatch pit . Both sites are accessible year-round by short, all-weather gravel roads . I can provide you with permit documentation, gravel analysis from Spears Engineering and Technical Services and any other documentation you may desire. I will include the gravel analysis -in the f ax. Please contact me with any questions you may have. Sincerely, .SLQ'P_O Tim Sheldon V oo( t 1 ag irk • / i. FOnthill5 •"'11 `fir {• F'arM 10 --.V.
