The subject property is undeveloped,with a dysfunctional creosote timber pile bulkhead present along the
shoreline.
6. Identify and describe the proposed project, including the type of materials to be used,construction methods,
principle dimensions,and other pertinent information(attach additional sheets, if needed):
The proposed shoreline restoration includes sloping back the eroding back to a grade not to exceed 2:1, installation of a
gravel path to the beach, burying boulders which will serve as anchors for large beach logs, placing logs with rootwads,
embedding widely spaced boulders to further hold the logs and the beach material, place biodegradable jute matting upon the
re-graded slope,and planting the shoreline(upper shore zone and slope)with native shore-friendly vegetation.
7. Describe why the action requiring this permit cannot be avoided.
The proposed shoreline stabilization and restoration is phase 2 of mitigation that is to be provided to compensate for
potential impacts to aquatic habitat areas from the proposed Port of Grapeview community floating dock. Phase 1 is
the demolition and removal of a dysfunctional creosote timber bulkhead. The proposed shoreline stabilization will
arrest shoreline erosion and restore natural habitat conditions along the shoreline.
