HomeMy WebLinkAbout53-89 - Ord. Amends Ord. 30-87 Smoking PolicyORDINANCE NO. 53-89 AN ORDINANCE relating to smoking in buildings owned or leased by Mason County which amends Ordinance No. 30-87. WHEREAS, on April 28, 1987, the Board of Mason County Commissioners enacted on an ordinance relating to smoking in buildings owned or leased by Mason County; and WHEREAS, on April 11, 1989 Mason County purchased Lot 5 and 6, Block G, David Shelton's first addition, to relieve the overcrowded conditions in buildings of the Courthouse complex; and WHEREAS, the protection of the public health, safety and welfare of persons using or occupying the new and currently owned buildings is top priority: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF MASON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, that Ordinance 30-87 shall be amended to include the following: 1. County owned Buildings #1, #2, #3 and #4, shall be designated in their entirety as "no smoking" areas. 2. County elected officials and department heads, whose offices/departments are located in any County building except Buildings 1, 2, 3, & 4, may establish their own smoking policies within areas of their offices which are not public areas as defined in Ordinance 30-87 Section 2.
