Supporting Statewid E-911 Referendum RESOLUTION N . 103-91 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE UPCOMING STATEWIDE E-911 REFERENDUM ENTITLED "SHALL ENHANCED 9-1-1 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE DIALING BE PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND BE FUNDED BY A TAX ON TELEPHONE LINES? WHEREAS, 9-1-1, which is currently in use in much of Mason County and is an easy access to all Police, Fire and Medical public safety agencies throughout Mason County, WHICH, HOWEVER, provides no automatic address or location information; and WHEREAS, Enhanced 9-1-1 provides the caller's name, address and telephone number at the communications center that serves the caller's location, and WHEREAS, a statewide emergency communications network of enhanced 9-1-1 telephone service which allows an immediate display of a caller's identification and location would serve to further the health safety and welfare of the state citizens; and WHEREAS, statewide implementation of Enhanced 9-1-1 telephone service is feasible and should be accomplished as soon as practicable; and WHEREAS, the time saved by having the location of the call displayed automatically could mean the difference between life and death for any of Mason County's citizens. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Mason County to urge all of its citizens to support passage of the statewide E-9-1-1 referendum entitled "shall enhanced 9-1-1 emergency telephone dialing be provided throughout the state and funded by a tax on telephone lines?
