Authorizing Applications for Funding Assistance for an Outdoor Recreateion Project RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION: MASON COUNTY, WASHINGTON Resolution Number: 00-9] A resolution authorizing applications for funding assistance for an outdoor recreation project to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation as provided by the Marine Recreation Land Act. WHEREAS, the Mason County Commissioners have approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the area which identifies a community park and Hammersly Inlet, Mason County named Walker Park. WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies ; and WHEREAS, the Mason County Commissioners consider it in the best public interest to develop a community park located north of the Walker Park Road and bordering Hammersly Inlet. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mason County Commissioners, Mason County, Washington: 1 . That the Commissioners be authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for funding assistance. 2. That any fund assistance so received be used in the development of five (5) acres of land designated as Walker Park, Mason County, Washington. 3. That the County share of the project will be derived from the Mason County Park' s Budget. 4. Mason County does hereby certify that the County is responsible to support all non-cash commitments to the local share should they not materialize. 5. That any property acquired with financial aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the County Commissioners for Outdoor Recreation, and any affected federal agency, and 6. That this resolution become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. 7. That adequate notification has been given an opportunity provided for public input and that published notices have identified affected flood plains and/or wetlands, if applicable. 8. That Mason County does certify that the County is owner of the land to be developed and based on current knowledge, provides assurance there are no encumbrances on the land which would restrict recreation use of the land as proposed in this application.
