WHEREAS, on February 3, 1987, the Board of Mason County Commissioners adopted Mason
County Resolution No. 11-87 creating a seventeen (17) member Fair Advisory Board to be appointed by
the Mason County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, on April 7, 1987, the Board of Mason County Commissioners increased the Fair
Advisory Board by adding three (3) at large positions; and
WHEREAS, on June 27, 1989, the Board of Mason County Commissioners increased the Fair
Advisory Board by adding four (4) additional positions: three at-large members and one livestock
representative and
WHEREAS, on September 19, 1995, during a public hearing, the Fairgrounds/Convention Center
Manager recommended to change the membership of the Fair Advisory Board by deleting non-interest
positions and adding a Superintendent from each Fair Department thus creating a 33 member Board,
WHEREAS, This request has been heard and considered in an advertised public hearing.
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED,that the Board of Mason County Commissioners amend
Mason County Resolution No. 51-89 to change the membership of the Fair Advisory Board and create a
thirty-four (34) member Board by adding all Fair Department Superintendents.
1. The Board will be composed of members from the active Fair departments of the prior fair. The Board
will have a President, a Vice President and a Secretary. The Board will consist of the following voting
membership:
All Superintendents of the following active Mason County Fair Departments:
Fine Arts, Creative Crafts, Hobbies, Ceramics, Porcelain & Pottery, Photography, Lapidary, Home
Arts, Floral, General Agriculture, Natural Resources, Poultry, Rabbits, Dogs, Swine, Cattle,
4-H/FFA Live Animal Auction, Draft Horse, Petting Farm, Goat (Total = twenty (20))
And other departments as added, deleted or replaced.
And the following members at large: one (1) from the WSU Cooperative Extension Office
one (1) youth representative
one (1) from the Back Country Horsemen of Mason County
one (1) from the Mason County Historical Society
two (2) from the Mary M Knight FFA Chapter
three (3) from the 4-H Leaders' Council
three (3) from the Pomona Grange
two (2) from the Community
Total = fourteen (14)
And the following non-voting membership: Mason County Fairgrounds Staff-ex-officio
Retired Members Emeritus
2. The Board may adopt rules necessary to the conduct of it's affairs. Regularly scheduled
meetings shall be held during the months of February, March, April, May, June, July August and
September. The Fair Board President may call special meetings upon five (5) days notice to all members.
3. The Secretary will maintain and record all business of the Board, i.e., makers and seconds of all
motions, failure or success of passage.
4. A quorum will consist of 15 voting delegates in attendance. Voting delegates will identify
themselves on arrival at meetings. Each delegate may represent only one department.
5. At the September meeting the Board will:
A. Select the theme for the next Fair.
B. Elect the following officers for a twelve month term:
President, Vice President and Secretary
