A RESOLUTION continuing Mason County Interim Resource Ordinance, Ordinance 77-93 , as
amended, on an interim basis .
WHEREAS , the Mason County Interim Resource Ordinance No . 77-93 was adopted on August 3 ,
1993 ; and
WHEREAS , the Mason County Comprehensive Plan was adopted on April 2, 19960 and
WHEREAS , the Mason County Resource Ordinance, Section 17 . 01 . 220, states that this Chapter shall
expire within one year after adoption of a comprehensive plan, pursuant to RCW 36 . 70A; and
WHEREAS, the Western Washington Growth Management Hearings Board, invalidated portions of
said comprehensive plan in its Orders, dated January 14, 1999, and December 5 , 1998 , Case 96-2-
0023 , and
WHEREAS , the county wishes to avoid any uncertainty that the Interim Resource Ordinance remains
in effect; and
WHEREAS , the Mason County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution No . 18 -97, Resolution
No . 96 - 97 , Resolution No . 17-98 , and Resolution 112-98 to enact a six month extensions of the
Interim Resource Ordinance and assure its continued effectiveness;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT : the Board of County Commissioners of Mason
County hereby adopts an interim measure which continues the Interim Resource Ordinance, #77-93 ,
and amendments thereto , until June 2 , 1999 .
During the period of this interim measure, the Mason County shall proceed with the public process
appropriate to consider the removal of Section 17 . 01 . 220 from the Interim Resource Ordinance, thus
removing the sun- setting provision .
