A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING ACCOUNTING RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE MASON
COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ' S SOLID WASTE AND
UTILITIES DIVISIONS WITH THE MASON COUNTY AUDITOR
WHEREAS , Chapter 2 . 76 of the Mason County Code established the Department of Public
Works in 1973 to include a utilities division; and
WHEREAS , in 1982 , per Resolution No . 101 . 82 the Board of County Commissioners created
the Department of General Services combining the functions of several departments including
but not limited to landfill and sewer and water ; and
WHEREAS , in 1990 , per Resolution No . 37 - 90 the Board of County Commissioners restructured
the administration and make up of the Department of General Services and incorporated the
functions and services associated with landfill and consolidated water and sewer into the
Department of Public Works ; and
WHEREAS , in 1991 , per Resolution No . 105 - 91 the Board of County Commissioners took the
steps necessary to supersede and cancel Resolution No . 37 - 90 , which incorporated the divisions
of consolidated water and sewer and landfill into the Department of Public Works , and
combined the planning, landfill , and consolidated water and sewer functions into the Department
of Community Development ; and
WHEREAS , at the time the Department of Community Development was created it was
determined that it would be in the best interest of the Department to continue using the
accounting services provided by the Department of Public Works to include that associated with
the general ledger, annual reports and financial statements ; and
WHEREAS , because of the increasing work load, being realized by the Department of Public
Works on their accounting personnel , it has become necessary to transfer these accounting
responsibilities to the Office of the Mason County Auditor ;
NOW THEREFORE , the Mason County Board of Commissioners does hereby .
Transfer the general ledger, annual report and financial statement responsibilities associated with
the Department of Community Landfill Division and Sewer/Water Divisions to the Office of the
Mason County Auditor at an hourly rate of reimbursement for services performed which is to be
agreed upon by the Mason County Auditor and Director of Community Development .
