AN INTERIM ORDINANCE TO STAY THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ORDINANCE 129 - 00,
WHICH ESTABLISHED THE OFFICE OF HEARING EXAMINER
AN ORDINANCE to stay the effectiveness of Ordinance 129 - 00 , which established an office of
hearing examiner and to assigned to the hearing examiner various duties currently done by the Board
of Commissioners, the Planning Commission, the Building Code Board of Appeals, and the Health
Officer, by amending Mason County Code to add a new chapter under Title 2, revising Title 15 , and
repealing other provisions in conflict with these changes under the authority provided in RCW
36 , 70 , 970 ,
WHEREAS , the Mason County Board of Commissioners adopted Ordinance 129 -00 on December
191 2000 , to be effective March 1 , 2001 , and Ordinance 129 - 00 was stayed by Ordinance 25 - 01 to
allow the county to hire a hearing examiner, to establish rules for the hearings, and to further examine
the office and its duties ;
WHEREAS , Mason County adopted these changes to the long-term advantage of the citizens of
Mason County, and there is no required time line for either adopting or implementing these changes ;
WHEREAS , the Mason County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on amendments to
the hearing examiner ordinance on August 20th and additional time will be needed for review by the
Board and final action;
NOW , THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF MASON COUNTY DO
HEREBY ORDAIN that the effectiveness of Ordinance 129 - 00 be stayed until November 1 , 2001 .
Pursuant to RCW 36 . 70A. 390, the Board will hold a public hearing on this interim action on Tuesday
October 23 , 2001 , at 6 : 45 p . m .
