Property Owner: Sheri Saari
Parcel Number(s): 32231-51-02001
Assessment Year: 2021 Petition Number: 117.2022
Date(s) of Hearing: 3/29/2022
Having considered the evidence presented by the parties in this appeal, the Board hereby:
❑ sustains ❑ overrules the determination of the assessor.
Assessor's True and Fair Value BOE True and Fair Value Determination
® Land $ 15,535 ® Land $ 7,770
❑ Improvements $ ❑ Improvements $
❑ Minerals $ ❑ Minerals $
❑ Personal Property $ ❑ Personal Property $
Total Value $ 15,535 Total Value $ 7,770
This decision is based on our finding that:
The hearing was held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
Sheri Saari, Appellant, was present at the hearing. IdaMae Jensen, Assessor's Representative, was present.
The owner presented six reasons as to why the subject parcel was overvalued. Most concerning is that this
parcel is proximate to the public boat launch.
The Assessor's Representative stated that a new algorithm was created in 2021 based on seven previous
tideland sales. This algorithm was then used to assess parcel 32231-51-02001 at$15,535. She noted that
no land accompanied these tidelands. She also testified that the Assessor's Office is not an expert in
determining whether a property has the potential to grow, produce, or is harvestable.
Therefore, the Board considers this parcel as a recreational lot and sets the assessed value at $7,770.
