The regular meeting was called to order at 5 : oo p . m . , in the Mason County Building 1, Commission
Chambers, at 411 N . 5th Street, Shelton , WA by Vice - Chairperson Davis .
Attendance : Matthew Davis, Vice - Chair and Susan Ickes, Commissioner - - Absent : Brian Kelly resigned .
Others : Chief Tami Beyer; Sheryl Hilt, Finance Manager; and Becky Rogers, Chief Examiner
Business :
1 . Approval of Minutes : March 21, 2019 regular meeting minutes .
Cmmrs. Ickes/Davis moved and seconded to approve the meeting minutes dated March 21,
2019. Motion carried unanimously.
2 . Chief Examiner Update
2 . 1 . Position Tracking — The Chief Examine stated there are seven vacant and funded full time
employee ( FTE) positions .
2 . 2 . Corrections Lieutenant Promotional Announcement Revisions — The Chief Examiner noted
that the promotional announcement closed on March 27 with three applicants . Due to the
number of applicants it is recommended to follow the testing process similar to what was
used for the Patrol Lieutenant position for the previous promotional testing .
2 . 2 . 1 . Approval of change in Promotional Testing Services with Public Safety Testing from
Promotional Assessment Center to Command Skills and Abilities Promotional Test
( CSAPT) and Work Performance Rating (WPR)
Cmmrs. Ickes/Davis moved and seconded to approve the change in promotional
testing services with Public Safety Testing from Promotional Assessment Center
to Command Skills and Abilities Promotional Testing (CSAPT) and Work
Performance Rating (WPR) . Motion carried unanimously.
2 . 2 . 2 . Public Safety Testing Agreement for promotional testing services (CSAPT - $ 1 , 950 plus
$ 1 , 000 per candidate and WPR - $ 1 , 800) Total $ 6, 750 - INFORMATIONAL
3 . Sheriff' s Office Update
3 . 1 . Entry Level Corrections Position — Sheryl Hilt questioned if the entry level Corrections Deputy
position is the same position as was vacated by the Corrections Lieutenant . The Chief
Examiner confirmed it is the same position .
3 . 2 . Corrections Deputy David Garrett was sworn in to office on April 16 .
3 . 3 . Records Specialist — Chief Beyer reported they have made a conditional offer for the Records
Specialist position . They are waiting for the polygraph with anticipation to have this
individual on payroll in May.

3 . 4 . Clerk — Chief Beyer noted they conducted interviews for the top three individuals on the
eligibility list and have chosen one individual to proceed on to backgrounding . Depending
on the work load the backgrounding will be conducted in the next few weeks or month .
4 . The meeting adjourned at 5 : o6 p . m .
